Noise ultimately keeps us tied to linear constructs and distorts our senses away from what we cannot see with our naked perceptions.

Looking underneath the distortion of noise reminds me of why I am here in this time. This time of change that has been developing a sense of intelligence and purpose since the beginnings of the mass mechanized world. Noise occupies more and more of the natural landscapes and shrouds the roots of our deepest senses. Noise is often thought of in terms of sounds, yet for the sake of expanding our imaginations let us also include the noise that assaults our vision, our sense of smell and our internal landscapes that house our soul.

Our souls are stirring in ways we have not seen for centuries. There is a collective recognition that something isn’t quite right. A something we cannot quite point to or even describe, but it is an irritation and dissatisfaction at the level of the soul that will not be put to rest with a raise in wages, a home or tax breaks. There are countless conditions and injustices that people from all walks of life can name and point to as the thing that is not quite right. Yet even the potential of being able to identify this, is empty of expression and relief. The subtle incongruencies persist and the clamoring noise tells us that things are not as they seem.

Our souls are whispering to us through the spaces that are unkept. Our souls know that the time of awaking approaches like the first light of a new day. Our souls are telling us that we are ready to see clearly and feel the impact of what truly exists. We are expressions of soul that are continuously flickering with the projection of human actions. These are physical clues on how and what to remember about why we are here.

Out of necessity, I have learned to be curious about human noise and I have learned to appreciate some of their qualities, in small doses. There are noises that harden and fracture the world and there are noises that help us remember that stillness is an entrance to realities that cannot be named. Yet, noise is an attractive experience as it numbs our senses. For many, the experience of noise normalizes the continuous felt sense of internal distress. A distress that is anchored by the lost context of our ancestorial histories. An internal distress that needs noise to continually meet it or risk being lost in the perceived void of silence. Noise can be a physical beacon.

Silence is a reality that shows the dissolving nature of time while renewing our sense of being. This makes us dangerous to the world of noise. To experience silence, is to allow conscious death and simultaneous awakening in each consecutive moment. We become the experience of life and death, a reflection of all the timelines and possible outcomes.

The ‘advanced’ world is mostly polluted with sensory noise that eliminates wonder. I understand why people occupy noise and disregard the power of silence. Noise can be predictable and projects a sense of uniformity and permanence.

Silence, on the other hand, speaks to us, even screams at us. It shows us our life, demonstrates time and rewinds old battles. Silence reminds us we are ok and whispers that we are eternal, cutting us with old pain and showing us the full depths of emotion. It has us feel what seems inconceivable. Silence welcomes us with its spacious and terrifying calls that whisper what is true.

Our soul exists out of the vibrations that emanate from silence and the impacts of a lived experience. We are the bridges for our soul’s true growth, shaping what is next. The elements of time feed this process through the vibrations of joy, pain, contentment, disgust and countless other expressions of living nature. Just as we need the experience of silence the living force of silence needs us to live in its realm and continue to dissolve into something new.
